All true, but that was 40 years ago, since then we have had carter, reagan,
bush, clinton, bush and lots of change in the market. Chrysler recovered,
introduced the minivan and prospered. Like the rest of the US auto industry,
Chrysler faces tough times. It says nothing at all about the success of the
bailout 40 years ago. I am just not as pessimistic as some I suppose, and
think
that the idea of taking stock for the cash is better than taking nothing at
all. The price of the stock doesn't matter either, as some have inferred. A
billion dollars in 3 dollar stock cashes out the same as a billion dollars
in 100
dollar stock. It is sort of like comparing a pound of feathers to a pound of
rocks.

Look at Chrysler now. They have been functionally bankrupt for awhile now.
Bridge loans have turned into pier loans (bridge to no where so maybe Palin
will support a bailout). They are in deep trouble but since the country has
decided that financials are the industry to support they will more than
likely go down the tubes with someone like Tanta Motors picking up the Jeep
name
