I grew up hearing the adage "If you don't vote, you deserve anyone you
get", so I always vote so I can rightly complain later..<g>
There's something that doesn't set well with me about not voting,
besides, usually there's more on the ballot besides POTUS, so I always
feel the need to be there. In my small community, they don't even ask
for ID, as they know us on sight and call us by name as we enter the
volunteer firehouse. They know who comes to vote and there'd be talk if
I didn't show up, so there's the peer pressure aspect to voting, too. :)
I could write someone in, but that doesn't get us any closer to a
legitimate third party. Besides, I agree, philosophically, with about
90% of the Libertarian party platform, so in my heart I feel good about
doing the right thing _for me_. By voting for a party(and I don't think
I will be alone), hopefully those who watch politics will notice that a
sizeable number of folks are voting other than D or R, and take note.

Perhaps the next Libertarian candidate will be someone of real
substance...I haven't seen that yet, but eventually the odds are in
their favor.

You're right, of course. Sadly, that leaves me with the choice of
being totally ineffectual by not voting at all, or being totally
ineffectual by voting for a snowball in hell. We need, perhaps, to
replace the Dems and Repubs with two new parties...The Rock Party
and the Hard Place Party.
