Sawdust from mills is sometimes sold to make pellets, fireplace logs, particle board, and other lumber products, as well as used directly as fuel.

I saw on the news last night that down in Atlanta, a former real estate developer is going to harvest methane from the landfill and turn it into natural gas to sell back to the city...thought that was inventive.
