I'd talk to the neighbors but one does wonder why the cats were tearing up the screens. Most meandering cats aren't going for unknown screens. Home screens, yes, but not usually the neighbors. And, I'd have advised the person to get a spray bottle and zap the little buggers with some water with a little (very little) ammonia in it. Zap once usually works.

Neighbors from hell, well disappearing goes without saying. And if that isn't the cure, then I'd make the cats disappear too <g>

When I was home at Thanksgiving, my Dad was reading the newspaper and
started chuckling. He read an advice column where the enquiry involved
what to do about a neighbor's cats. The cats were tearing up screens
and causing other property damage. The advice was to cover the screens
so that the cats couldn't get to them.

He said he would have told the person to make the cats disappear, and
he asked my thoughts. I said it would depend on the neighbors
involved. If they were otherwise good neighbors, I would likely call
on them, tell them about the trouble their cats were causing, and ask
them to confine the cats. If they were neighbors from hell, the cats
would simply disappear.

So what do you all think?
