My day has been spent doing more mundane things like taking cars to and from the shop, shopping, trying to clean house, being a caretaker

Mundane? I hate errand days and shopping. That wears me out more than
anything, especially in the summer, getting in and out of the truck, in
and out of the stores-that hot to cold thing just zaps me of energy.
Now, cleaning house is definitely mundane..I hate that, too..especially
folding clothes, which I am doing today.

I have been spending time with music. I sing in the college choir. yes, I am the oldest, most of the others are closer to my grand kids
age than to my kids age. I also attend a very small church with no
choir and they are so desperate that they have me singing each Sunday. Yesterday I met with our pianist to plan what we will do the
next several weeks. Now I need to find time to practice.

That's so cool, Van Dell-that's making time for smelling the roses.
You're also inspiring others to make the time for music and you are a
reminder that music is for lifetime enjoyment. I wish I still had a
voice. It's hard to believe, but when I was young, before I started
smoking, I actually DID have a voice. I won some talent competitions
even. Twenty-five years of cigs and a thyroid problem have taken that
away from me. I still love to sing, but people don't like to hear me
sing anymore..LOL..not even in the shower- so mostly, I sing for myself
in the garden....:) My voice has made the transformation from second
soprano down to tenor....lol....can't hit those high notes anymore.
It's almost as embarrassing as smoking. I've been trying to quit
again....my doc prescribed some inhalers, but at $145, I can't afford to
get the script filled, so I am still in the cutback mode. I find typing
and doing email, keeping my hands and mind busy, helps tremendously.

Now, speaking of music, I really like smooth jazz...I am moving away
from the Celtic music and vocals and moving towards the sound of a
saxophone. There's something "smoky" and relaxing about it-sexy, too,
but we won't go there.. :) I'm thinking of buying a Dave Koz
CD...anymore recommendations for jazz sax music?

Because of Utility lines we decided to remove the roof and rebuild it
after finishing move. Pray for no rain, tarps will only do so much.
I didn't get over there yesterday as daghterinlaw was working and I
had to stay with wife, but I expect to see a roofless house, everything removed down to the attic floor.

If I may be so bold, what is wrong with your wife?
Caretaking is such an emotionally demanding job. Make sure to keep
making time for yourself, Van, like the choir thing. You need that.

All the best,

Bev
