I think it is the particular mineral that makes it good or bad. Is it
selenium that has made certain areas famous for lower incidence of heart disease?

Don't know about selenium, but when most are talking about heart health,
they refer to calcium and magnesium and potassium and sodium, all metal
minerals and their salts that we commonly call electrolytes in the body.
