Hey Rob,

The area is clear and I have an appointment on the 27th with the Health Department man. He'll mark off the plan for septic and then give the permit. I am going either this week or next to look at a couple of mobiles. I have sort of decided to look at used doublewide trailers. I'll look at a couple of singles also. I have a general price range that goes from bottom of the barrel to something decent. I'll have to rip out old carpets, etc. but that is good.

Sort of decided to let the mobile be the first part of the house and then build on to it. It will fit the neighborhood and my plans.

This is taking a lot longer than I though and really putting my plan back some. Spent the last week working on the old truck I bought in Fl. Some Rustoleum paint on the rims, bed and places missing paint, new headliner, good cleaning, rubbing compound on existing paint, and have the stake bed ( thanks all for the name of that "barandas" in Spanish if you ever need to know) ready to put on tomorrow.

Also going through my tools after the suggestions you and others sent. Basically just going nuts here looking for projects :>) My truck actually is lookin good though.

Rob in Va (soon)

I was sitting here wondering how things are going. Any progress on
finding a used MH? Get the mowing done & permits yet?
Just curious...

Some of the best homestead advice:

Find the best place for the garden. Build the garden and plant fruit trees
first, then build a shop, then build the house so the garden is near the
kitchen door. All other considerations are of lesser importance than food
production. Next in importance is water, but pipe laying is cheaper than
soil and sun moving. Pump from the best water source to a tank on hill
above the house. Side tap into the pipe for household and garden water.

I'd add a road or someplace to park (before spring arrives) to this list, .
