Ya missed the biggest hurdle of all, Wen -
are women allowed to be 'shepherds' to
a 'flock' ... ? or must women labor in silence
while the guys sit around discussing 'more
important issues' ? "Cavemen" used to do
it because there was a necessary and
different division of labor and risk - since
technology has brought us this far, there
is no longer a need for "cavemen" and
the 'division of labor' ...

Toni,
I have not seen a church that discriminates on gender that does not try to
control their congregation in other ways also. If you can subjugate half
the congregation and dismiss their questions and objections, then you only
need to concern yourself with controlling the remaining half. Often those
churches which demand a woman's submission also encourage child abuse. The
mentality seems to go hand-in-hand. Or perhaps the beating of children into
religious obedience would never happen without first removing the authority
of their mothers. In any event, the requirement of female submission, is
usually just one manifestation of a bigger problem.
