Thanks for the recommendations. The Japanese honeysuckle is considered an invasive plant here in the Midwest, too, so I would want to recommend that.
Is the L. utahensis widely available?

Ho Ellen,
The most commonly grown honeysuckle in the West is Lonicera japonica,
Japanese Honeysuckle....which grows like a weed........ There are at least
11 species of Lonicera native to the western states....none of which is used
much in landscaping.
Most of the honeysuckles planted here are native to Asia. L. sempervirens
is a US native though and is widely used....and it will also grow okay in
most of the West. For Utah you might want to try L.
utahensis.....deciduous, with white-yellow flowers.

Subject: [gwl-g] native honeysuckle
Is there a honeysuckle that's considered a native in the West (Utah?)
Does anyone know if Lonicera sempervirens or L. flava do well in the
West? Is there a honeysuckle recommended for Western gardeners?
jems
Indianapolis and unfamiliar with Western gardening
