If there are any similarities, which there are, then it is because, and due to, human propensities which have evolved over thousands of years in the--still continuing--process of adjustment and adaptation to humanity's environments. In this process of survival and the constant search for enhancement, the "collective" brain has devised similar means of solving problems and making explanations, which then are passed on through genetic inheritance (note propensities, not content)--but apparently only among those human beings especially gifted in reflective imagination, as well as dealing with practical circumstances. The key was civilization.
