Paul, an apostle of Christ, and Timothy.

To the church of Corpus Paulinum, concerning matters
about which Vince and Jim wrote:

[Vince]
>Why speak of Cephas' death as "tragic." Isn't dying
>about the best thing to do?

Yes, we would rather be away from the body and at home
with the Lord. But we miss Cephas nonetheless, for
friendship and sharing in the Lord's work -- all the
more reason why I groan for that heavenly tent by
which I shall be reunited with a brother in Christ.

[Paul]
>>We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of
Cephas'
>>tragic martyrdom last year, and ask that you join us
>>in laying siege to heaven with prayers for his
>>salvation.

[Jim]
>Paul I am a tad astonished that you believe that
>once someone is dead They get some sort of second
>go at salvation. Either Peter was or wasn't allowed
>beyond those pearly gates.

Do not deceive yourself, Jim. If you believe you are
wise in this age, then you are a fool after all. The
wisdom of this world is foolishness with the Lord. And
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting what
I've told the Corinthians. Many may be saved, but only
as through fire. Fire will test everyone's work, the
saved and the damned alike. Who knows what will come
of the testing? Who knows what may be reversed? I am
not aware of anything particularly heinous against
Cephas -- other than being an occasional thorn in my
flesh and giving me a fresh crop of piles at Antioch
-- but he is not thereby acquitted. I do not judge
Cephas anymore than I judge myself. It is for the Lord
to judge, and for us to pray.

[Paul]
>>He (Cephas)
>>deserved to be shamed in turn, and I would say the
>>same thing to anyone again if I had to.

[Jim]
>This too seems a bit out of character for the fellow
>who penned, "love is patient, kind, bears all things,
>believes all things, hopes all things, endures all
>things". You dont seem to be enduring disagreement
>very well. Didn't you ever learn to disagree without
>being disagreeable?

I went on record in one of my letters as advising that
"If anyone is detected in transgression then restore
that person in a spirit of gentleness." But I make and
break the rules like anyone. Try jail, torment,
floggings, and repeated rejection -- and see what that
does to your temperament!

[Jim]
>Paul! Loren is no infidel.

His god is his belly, and his honor is in his shame.
What else does that make him?

[Jim]
>He's just confused, but in all honesty, you should
>be blamed for that. You are one confusing, complex,
>contradictory fellow.

Please send me a sampling of letters you have penned
throughout your career over the last eight years,
addressed to different individuals and groups dealing
with different sets of issues. Let's see how
consistent you are. It is wonderful to see godless
slanderers like you and Vince holding me to this lofty
standard of consistency. When you have adopted a like
standard for yourselves...well, then so should we all.

The blessings of Christ Jesus be upon you all. And
remember, I beg you, my chains.
