Dear Paul,
Why speak of Cephas' death as "tragic." Isn't dying about the best thing to do? See, this is the
problem all of us have with your letters. You indicate that you miss Cephas sorely, however, we
have a letter to the Thessalonians with your name on it that says "not to grieve as others do who
have no hope for since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God
will bring with him those who have died." You go on to say that the dead in Christ shall rise
first and then "we who are alive" will be called up to meet them. Well, buddy, you may not be
one who is still alive because I think time is running short for you.
I don't mean to upset you, I just hope you can understand why I personally don't know if you
wrote all the letters that are ascribed to you in our collection. I would be forced into ad hoc
arguments if I were told that I had to accept 1 Thessalonians and your newest letter with
greetings from Loren Rosson as authentic. Now, don't get me wrong, there are people back in
my day who can come up with some pretty crafty ad hoc arguments for the authenticity of your
letters. I just want you to understand my position.
So I guess, for the record, which letters did you write? Remember when answering that
everything you write will be scrutinized to the very letter.
Sincerely,
Paul
I mean, Vince Endris
