Dear Paul,
The exact nature of the thorn in 2 Cor 12:7 has been a matter of much
debate over the centuries. If you examine the commentaries you will find
many options. My own preference is that the thorn was a physical malady,
and I favor the idea that the apostle referred to his eyes (Gal 4:15). But
the list of suggestions is long. The suggestion of a woman being a thorn to
Paul is unfamiliar, but it seems impossible categorically to rule out any
idea. However, the phrase "thorn in my flesh" leads me to think of
something that affected Paul's actual flesh, not his fleshly nature.
