Don't miss Edgar Krentz's excellent article, "Military Language and Metaphors
in
Philippians," in Origins and Method: Towards a New Understanding of Judaism
and
Christianity (JSNT, Suppl. Ser. 86; Sheffield Acdemic Press, 1993), pp.
105-127. Lots
of useful references. He mentions that this essay is part of a larger
project.
