It's too bad the Edward Hopper show just closed. I saw
it two months ago and it was fantastic. The Van Goghs
are all on load in Texas while the galleries are under
renovation. Currently the main event is a minor Ed
Ruscha show in one of the smaller galleries.
The cafeteria at the museum is one of the best deals
in town.
I might ordinarily say a better see might be the Shed
Aquarium down the street from the Art Institute. It
claims to the the world's largest even through the new
Georgia Aquarium is bigger. But its oceanarium is also
under renovation. The reef and other tanks are still
open. So it is still a better visit than most other
aquariums in the country.
Downtown Chicago is going to be a zoo this weekend.
There is a marathon today and a bicycle tour tommorow.
Lake Shore Dive and a lot of downtown streets are
going to be blocked.
