Obama was never even promised for the Carrboro thing . . . it was pitched as an early-voting rally thingy.

The Dean Dome thing was *just* announced, as in, I heard about it this AM, and I'm on their email lists & whatnot. Tickets for it are also available by going to barackobama.com -- you fill out a little web form & they mail you something that has no special distinguishing marks, but you're supposed to print it & take it along.

It looks a lot like this, in fact. Perhaps the extraneous commas in the address info are how they tell it's legit ;-) :::

I voted this morning. 3 minutes of line to vote. I was equally ignorant of availability of Obama tix but snatched them up as soon as I learned about them. I also have tix to the Superchunk/Arcade Fire thing, but am not sure I'll be able to get within a mile of the place and whether it would be worth it. Is Obama supposed to be there?

I'm more excited about Monday, now, actually.

FYI, I have it from good sources...gates (whatever that means) at 1pm,
Superchunk at 2pm, Arcade Fire at 3pm.

I got a ticket this morning at the DAP in Durrrham...they claimed to have
"plenty" left.
I heard that the Town of Carrboro had upped the "capacity" from 3000-4000 to
6000.
Not sure where all those people would fit. I plan to wander down just for
the spectacle/chaos of the whole thing.

If you note, there is nothing on your little red "ticket" that guarantees
admission.
It's really more like a flier. I figure how ever many people get tickets,
at least twice as many people are likely to show up.
Should be an interesting scene. take over the streets. I'll watch from the
fringes. If I can even get that close.

BTW, after I voted and walked over to the Obama table at the DAP the guy at
the table asked if was there for Obama tickets.
I said I was there for Arcade Fire/Superchunk tickets, but was curious as to
when/where Obama would be in town.
Turns out Mr O will be at the Dean Dome on Monday night. I had no idea. I
live in a vacuum. I got tickets for that too.
Had to fill out a second clipboard. I gave them Hepler's cell phone number
both times.

Interesting note: I had to wait in line to vote. About 15-20 minutes.
Which is about 15-20 minutes more than I have had to wait in the last 2
elections voting on election day. There were probably around 50 people there
to vote at 11am. Not complaining, just found it interesting.

fuck all that lets put together a ron paul rally across the street at

Jeff, I think the Secret Service will be posting people on your roof
with "briefcases". Is that OK?

I'm confused, how they are going to control entry to the town

they gonna put up fences? Am I going to be restricted to walk

now? Can we
get Kusinich to make a return appearance?

No, you can't park on my lawn.. well unless Hep brings the
smoker.. and we
have a tailgate starting at 9AM.. then everyone can park on my
lawn..

I have a big red O on my hand. Do you?

If not, then you must not have gotten your Arcade Fire/
Superchunk/Obama
rally ticket yet. They're handing them out at Obama tables
situated
strategically close to early-voting sites around the Triangle.

I drove by the one in Carrboro (at Balloons and Things, just up
from
Akai Hana) at 9:25 this morning and there were like 250 people
standing
in line, wrapped halfway around the parking lot & down the
sidewalk in
front of Akai Hana. As I turned onto Weaver St. I saw more folks
hustling to get in line.

Not wanting to be another hour later to work, I opted to keep
driving.
Just now at lunch I headed into downtown Durham, because
there's an
Obama table at the DAP. Parked in the DAP parking lot, stood in
line for
about 20 seconds waiting for a clipboard to free up, handed
over some of
my Vital Personal Data, such as my name, and got a ticket in
return. And
the aforementioned big red O on my hand, to keep me from
driving to
Raleigh & doing the same thing again.
