I think my 96kbit mono MP3s of Metal Machine Music sound yards better than the vinyl did -- so much more icepicky.

There is at least one artist out there lamenting the current state of
the quality of audio bought and sold in digital formats. My favorite
quote is:

"Here's our song reduced to a pin drop -- what, what, what?!" Reed
explained. "It's like if no one knows any better or doesn't care, it's
gonna stay on a really, really low level and people who like good
sound are gonna be thought of as some kind of strange zoo animal."

I guess Helper et al have already proven Lou's comment since I am such
a pariah for insisting on the highest quality audio I can find or
buy. How dare I upset the low-res apple cart? ;)
