i had one of those rare weeks where everything was so
slow that i got to read the entire indy cover to
cover. that happens maybe once or twice a year. in the
"up front" column, the new editor was congratulating
herself on her third day on the job. so maybe this
fell through the cracks during a transition. but it's
a clear opportunity to make some neded changes.

nah. only if you are entirely uncritical *about
everything* and thus unreliable. the best way to set
out your standards and criteria is to show *about
what* you are unfailingly positive all the time.
reading unfailing positivity all the time in the indy
for every touring band that comes down the pike is
just as boring as reading the snarks and disses in the
indy.

but spot on about writing for pitchfork as your
audience.
