or if we want to go all capitalist about it, we could say that there just
isn't enough demand for our product so if we want to keep making it we are
stupid and on our own. Both the club owners and the musicians are in that
category.

If rock wants to go the way of poetry, this approach is a good way to
start. Eventually you'll have no choice _but_ to play "just for the
love of music and of the fans."
