but whats the harm? can you tell me why it's a bad thing? I'm sure there are occasions? Short of threats & creepy stuff?
Reasonable discussions is always welcomed. What is reasonable is variable.

On many blogs there is always the potential to make it a REAL pain in the ass for the blog owner. Deleting lots of nasty posts that are off topic ever day takes hours. Off topic posts make people who would normally post thoughtful ideas go away. Very counter productive to valuable conversation.

I have seen incidents where actual threats of physical harm have been made. This is not a random incident to take lightly. Some people will take there anger into the physical world AND
as we have seen here in Chapel Hill the Police will even read your blog and pretend to be the FBI to threaten high school students. Fortunately our police chief and town council won't tolerate this.

People don't start websites and blogs to be homes to trolls.
