While the codecs etc of quicktime are closed - isn't the file format
and atom structures an open specification?
What I am thinking of is that there could be levels of support by web
apps of quicktime.
Obviously transcoding from one format to another is a bit much to
expect at this point - but would it be possible to just edit the
metadata of the quicktime files and leave the rest of the content
untouched?
This would at least allow quciktime files to be hosted by webapps and
have the licensing information carried with them once they are
downloaded and distributed.
Cheers,
Mark
