Dear all,

I agree with Florian and Henrik, I was also confused by this $1000 rule. I am in a bit different situation, as I am currently paid for my CC work - but I still don't understand why a normal non-profit participation fee is about $300 and the CC participation fee is $1000 - in a way, it feels like a tax placed on being a CC member.

One good explanation is that there are costs related to the Legal Day that CC might have to cover - but then it would be good to know that this extra money goes to cover these particular costs.

Even worse, it is unclear whether the $1000 sum includes the $300 summit fee. I wrote to Daniela Faris about this and she didn't know the answer (and told me to contact CC), which is quite confusing. I'd like to point out that one cannot register without paying the fee. And I really hope that participation by a CC lead does not actually cost $1000 CC payment + $300 conference fee.

Having said that, I do not think that we should address this issue in the letter to the CC board.

Catharina, if I understand correctly - you asked yet another question, regarding Henrik's comment about the relation between CC public work and iCommons. This is surely a big question, I have often said that it's a kind of question that should be discussed openly, maybe even during the iSummit. But I don't think this is a broadly shared sentiment.

Maybe the next CC Europe meeting in Belgium would be a good opportunity to share our thoughts on CC/ iC relations?

My general opinion is that at some point it seemed that iC will be the framework in which CC public work can be done (initially it seemed that iC will be the public arm of CC, afterwards iC was shaped as a much broader framework, but that could still encompass CC projects). Currently, I think that iC is doing only a small part of what a global framework supporting CC public work should and could do.

Best,

Alek
