I have compiled and posted
http://keesan.freeshell.org/bl/dropbear-0.52-glibc236.tgz

For glibc 2.3.6. dbclient works, did not test dropbear or scp.
The binaries are all smaller than for 0.49 (glibc 2.2.5).
dropbear is 108 instead of 168K
dropbearkey 48 instead of 101K
dbclient 103 instead of 117K

Steven's uclibc-ssh is 287K, uclibc-dbclient 149K

I used default configuration but could have edited a file to make it smaller and a bit slower. For older laptops faster is better.
I could probably have left out features to make it smaller.

I tried to compile for uclibc but you need uclibc 0.9.1.7 (I don't know if I have that) and probably libz.a to compile statically. 0.49 compiled properly with my older uclibc. You can disable zlib. I don't have time to figure this out right now. 0.49 works for me.

Steven, could you compile dropbear 0.52 for libc5 or at least uclibc?
