CT65554, 2MB RAM
SB16 compatible sound (ESS1688 Audiodrive)
33K integrated USR Sportster winmodem
3com 10 PCMCIA ethernet
2.1 or 3.2GB drive
1997 $6000 $7,600

How funny, I have one and a half of these. A working one and one just in bits

Together they couldn't have cost me more than 10ukp.

> 233MHz and 266MHz $8,750 and $9,600. Came with 32MB RAM.
CT65554, 4MB RAM - does 1024x768 24-bit
4GB drive
integrated Xircom 10/100 ethernet/33 or 56K modem

> This is an actual PCMCIA card inside the machine. Havnt managed to

get it going yet. Cant even try until the phone company digs up the road

and replaces the cable.
Same 14.1" XGA TFT screen - the 2MB model might do 1024x768.

> Try the Xchips tiny X server to save 2MB memory, unless you have the
maximum 96MB. You probably still need XF86Config. Just symlink X to the
other server (ln -sf Xchips X).

As I wrote to you before, Im told I need some sort of permission before I

can get this file from your site. Not so urgent now I have Opera working on

both Xvesa and the Slackware 4 svga server. I expect the restriction would

also stop me from downloading the Firefox you got from the jap site, although

I havnt tried that yet.

> The 'linux on the hinote' site provides XF86Config info for 233 and 266MHz
Hinote with 4MB video RAM, which does 1024x768 on the LCD monitor or
1280x1024 on external monitor. Our three 233 and 266MHz Compaqs and
Toshiba, 2MB video RAM, 13" LCD, do 800x600. Hinote was a luxury model.

Its got a lovely big screen, but the way the CDROM drive or Floppy drive fits

in the side isnt exactly luxury. Doesn't seem to fit very well.

> You cannot use 1024x768 at 65MHz with 16 bpp because it requires 130
MByte/sec and the chip does only 106 MByte/sec. But you can use 1024x768
at lower refresh rate.

Any HorizSync VertRefresh range that includes the frequency you are using
will work, including Steven's defaults.
I experimented by shrinking the range until it stopped working.

If you only plan to use 1024, try
HorizSync 34.2 (or 34-35 if that does not work)
VertRefresh 42.4 (or 42-43)
Maybe it will load X faster if it does not need to check a range?

To get 1024x768, add to Steven's config (which works only up to 800x600)

#1024x768 @ 42.4 Hz, 34.2 kHz hsync for 24-bit display
Modeline "1024x768" 46 1024 1032 1176 1344 768 771 777 806

"Linux on a Hinote" is the site I originally got my information from

but your interpretation is useful. Thanks Sindi..

Ian.
