Instead of a manfid line, how about

card "TEAC PCMCIA CD-ROM DRIVE"
function fixed_disk
bind "ide-cs"

This assumes no other fixed-disk pcmcia device such as CF adaptor will be used here.

I don't think cardmgr -vo worked for me either. cardctl works but once it gave no manfid so I used version info instead on that line.

No, the manfid numbers have manfid in front of them.
