Is there some reason 2.2.5 would not work as well?

It works fine now. I needed to add the SW81 ldconfig in order for libXext to find libX11.

I have posted a package of all the libraries (and ldconfig) needed by BL3.40 or BL3.50 for use with Opera 8 (and probably 9.20 - do not use 9.02). http://keesan.freeshell.org/bl/oper8lib.tgz

1.2 MB compressed.

I would suggest also the later ldd so you can use it with libraries not just executables.

Steven, thanks for proving it did work and also for downloading 9.20 and discovering that it also worked. I checked the glibc package for what might be needed and also my own earlier operalib.tgz, and my blfiles.htm, which indicated I needed ldconfig. Running ldd does not indicate that you need a different ldconfig. How would the older one have prevented libXext (from SW3 or 4) from finding libX11? Does opera need to use it?

I put instructions for using opera with my package, and a link to the archives for linux, at http://keesan.freeshell.org/blfiles.htm

Maybe this newer (static, 400K, instead of the small 12K libc5) ldconfig will also cure the lucent modem problem. More tomorrow.

Sindi
