Apparently there is a PDF security hole involving malicious PDF files with hyperlinks, not that I have ever encountered any, but xpdf (5.7MB download of binary that works with glibc 2.2) has a recent version out with a patch for this, 3.01p12. Feb 8, 2006

Someone just steered me to Foxit (updated Feb 13, 2006), which offers a free-for-linux PDF reader that is a 3MB download and is tested working with Fedora 4 and Suse 10 (and also a 1MB Windows version). Would someone with broadband like to download it and report back on the dependencies?

The instructions are to 'just double click' on foxit so I suspect they might require GNOME or KDE.

I did not see mention of a security fix for ghostscript.
