The kernel which David used in the boot floppy for parport zip
drive was for pentium only. David, was this BL3 or BL2 kernel?
BL2 kernel already supports imm.o, don't know if BL3 zimage.p1 also
does.

BL3. I still don't know why it wouldn't boot on your 486.

BL3 zimage.p1 and zimage.4dx both support the parport drive, when used with a pentium. Neither work on a 486, the first because a 486 won't boot with a pentium kernel, the second probably because of some bug in the kernel.

The odd thing is that the two 486 kernels, which both worked on the 486 from hard drive and let me mount the parport zip drive, and on the pentium boot from grub boot floppy disk directly to parport zip drive, would not floppy boot on the 486 to parport zip drive.

With luck I won't run into anyone with a 486 that want me to demo linux from a zip disk.

I have posted the pentium version of the blimmz.gz floppy disk image for use with parport zip drive. (zimage.p1). You can substitute your own 386
or 486 kernel by mounting the floppy and cd /boot and replacing zimage, if you want to experiment.
