Any ideas on links2 -g and the GPM mouse which is not being opened in
framebuffer mode?

You do have gpm installed? If so, does it work ok in a console? You might
need to symlink the mouse to /dev/gpmdata or vice versa. I forget the
specifics.

I was able to move the mouse and see the cursor move. I did not install gpm.tgz, just that one file. I don't want to symlink /dev/mouse because it is normally /dev/psaux. Do you want to check how gpm.tgz sets things up? I will some day if not.

Try framebuffer yourself if you have a new enough card.
I don't expect to actually use these cards - I am happy with plain S3's.
