I have a longstanding interest in getting a more advanced wordprocessing
program working on BL: when I first started using it a few years ago, lack
of an advanced word processor was one of the things that kept me from
using BL for my "real work" (writing academic stuff). I ended up using
the more full-featured, pointy clicky distros for that. Now that I know a
bit more about BL and Linux in general though, I'm thinking of tackling
Word Perfect 8 on BL3. Though it was supposed to install and run on BL1,
I never could get that working back in the day (maybe 3 years ago?). I
think I probably could now, though. It would be more of a hobby project
for me now, since I'm using Open Office on a more powerful machine for my
real work. But I'd still be interested in trying it. With this post, I'd
just like to pose two questions related to this: 1) what is the level of
interest in seeing this done (and directions developed for it) by other BL
users?; and 2) do you think it's feasible, Steven, for someone of my
somewhat limited expertise? If Steven thinks it's at least feasible and
is interested, and especially if he's willing to provide some tech
support, I'd be willing to give it a shot. Any feedback on one or both of
these questions from list members?

Thanks, James
