Unnecessary for most users, but it's nice to have a
module available for those who need it.

Yes, very useful for some. However, to keep the kernel
tight and fast, I prefer to use modules for such things.
Not everyone needs a SMB, CDrom, or NFS capability.
Why clog up their kernels with unneeded capabilities?
