pkg /hd/tgz/glibc-solibs-2.2.5-i368-2.tgz (from Slackware 8.1)

It installed about 1.7 MB of files in /lib of BL3

According to the package info, the uncompressed files
occupy 3.2 MB.

Maybe the others are man or doc files?
Could I just have copied over the one libc file instead of the package?

and I now have both libc5 and libc6

libc.so.5 -> libc.so.5.4.44 (BL3 library)
libc.so.6 -> libc-2.2.5.so (SW81 library)

I was able to dial with eznet (eznet up 0).

This lynx would not work online with BL1 but it
works now that I have the SW81 glibc2 installed.

I'm glad to hear that it is so easy to upgrade BL3
to glibc2. Although glibc2 is a much larger library,
it will significantly increase the number of binaries
that can be run on BL3.

This is the most useful 1.7MB 'add-on' I can imagine.

Major library upgrades are safer on BL3 because it has
a static foundation. Even if the upgrade fouls an important
library, the BL3 shell (busybox) and the editor will still
work. That gives you the ability to fix things on the fly.

Also the glibc2 upgrades do not seem to affect the libc5 files, like they do if you upgrade from an older to a newer glibc2.

Cheers,
Steven
