Sites Nos 1 and 2, I used 1 and it was faster than
European Site 2.

It depends on the time of day. Sometimes ibiblio.org
is very slow. Usually www.basiclinux.com.ru is faster
than both.

I tried the American site at around 5:30 pm when everyone else is rushing around here in a car. I tried the European site when it was midevening there and everyone was glued to their computer screen.

I cannot get it to work in the loop

If it works with ramdisk but not loop, it's possible
there is some issue with your DOS filesystem (because
the loopfile resides on the DOS fs).

I have an identical computer, also with Win98 DOS, where it DOES work.
But perhaps we formatted the drive differently. I will look at this more closely. I know one formatted with DR-DOS does work with BL3 loop but so do three others that we did with PQ-MAGIC.

Which linux unzipper did you use?

The standard one from Slackware 7.1.

Maybe my particular hardware does not like the one from SW71?

Maybe your particular hardware is faulty.

Maybe. I won't use linux unzip there again, just pkzip (except I needed to unzip a photopc zip file with long file names one time, don't know why they provided zip along with a precompiled DOS version).

If the computers worked they would not have been given to us. It is very hard to find something with 3 ISA slots 233MHz that takes 64MB SIMMs with a nice accessible case. Worth an occasional educational experience. Now I know how to use an alternate superblock.

Cheers,
Steven
