All of the DOS partition.

If you install lilo and check it is booting OK (without
using DOS), you can then use fdisk (Linux) to change the
DOS partition to Linux native.

Once a device is mounted, it is a normal part of
the filesystem. Anything within that tree is
available for reading/writing/executing (given
the usual permission restrictions).

All you need to do is mount it. That will automatically
update mtab. chroot is unnecesary unless you want to use
the mounted filesystem as the root filesystem (i.e. run
on those libraries and configs).
