Aha - this is saying that /usr/bin/tail is not a directory (which it isn't,
it's an executable).
What happens if you delete the tail in /usr/bin and try mkdir /usr/bin/tail.
Perhaps e3pi is doing something wierd like using /usr/bin/tail/ as a directory
to store stuff in ?????? Seems wierd, but that's what the error message
looks like.
