Thanks for your time to look into my problem.

I'm using Conectiva 9 (special edition that came with a magazine).

I run mount and it shows no floppy nor cdrom.

I put a floppy in the floppy drive and run mount -t ext2 /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy. The floppy light goes on and if I run mount again it shows the floppy in the list.

I put a cdrom in the cdrom drive and run mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom. The light goes on. Some msgs goes on screen and if I run mount again it shows the cdrom in the list.

My problem is that I can not see the contents of the disks (floppy and cdrom). I try the following:

ls -lo /dev/floppy - The light goes on again. and it shows the size of a blank floppy isntead of a written floppy.

The samething happen with cdrom.

I tryed to copy something from hd to floppy and could not do it. I used the following command:

cd /
cd /tmp
ls -lo (it shows me a file named Julio is there)
cp Julio /dev/fd0 - It gives the message: the file Julio is already there. Do you want to overwrite it?

How como Julio is already there if I never copied it before? Even if I format the floppy it shows me the same message.

Yes! Believe me. I managed to format the floppy. I used the command fdformat /dev/fd0H1440. I could even use the mkfs -t ext2 /dev/fd0.

Thanks again.

Please tell us the exact commands you used for mounting
and seeing.

You said above that you "saw the floppy is there".
I assumed that mean you could see the contents.
If not, what did you mean?

It sounds to me that your floppy is not correctly
mounted.

Cheers,
Steven
