It's written in README.bindist:

You have to unpack _both_ tarballs (as normal user, NOT as root) into
the same directory (regardless what ever) within your HOME, such as:

Have you logged as `user`? `user` account in BL1 doesn't have correct
user and group id. It will be fixed, but for hot fix try this:

chown user:users /home/user

or you may add another user with BL script useradd available
in add-on: uadddel.tgz
