After your network connection is established to the
router (i.e. you can ping the router from the laptop),
the following will gateway traffic from the laptop
to the router (eg. 192.168.1.1)
--------------------------------
route add default gw 192.168.1.1
--------------------------------

Does your ISP have a local telephone number in New Zealand
(etc.)? Or would you be making an international toll call?
That could be more expensive than you expect. Particularly
since many motels and hotels in New Zealand have quite high
charges for phone use (even local calls). You may find it
cheaper to leave your laptop at home and use local internet
cafes for email. They are available in most New Zealand
locations and some are inexpensive (eg. first minute free).

pppsetup should work. Just re-run it to change the phone
number (or other parameter). I suggest you keep this line
in your eznet.conf file:
---------
0 chat no
---------
It forces PAP/CHAP authentication, which is the most
commonly used method in New Zealand (and elsewhere?).

Cheers,
Steven
