We need to return this list to its purpose, namely a discussion of the
language, grammar and meaning of Biblical Hebrew. History was to be
mentioned only in as far as it relates to an understanding of the language,
where the linguistic factors are mentioned first, then a possible historical
reconstruction given to try to explain the language..
The problem with Jim is that he starts out with his view of history, then
marshals linguistic and other arguments to try to back up his history.
Worse, almost every one of Jim’s essays mentions his view of history. If I
were a moderator of this list, I would put Jim on moderation, refusing to
post any of his essays that mentions his historical reconstruction, allowing
only those that stick to the topic of Hebrew language. I predict that such a
course would effectively shut Jim up, because he has given no indication
that he knows Biblical Hebrew.
No, we’re not trying to limit who may join the list, only that those who
join follow the rules of the list.
