Shoshana,

I mean the ENGLISH word 'surely' added by the translators is redundant. It is not clear to me what makes you think that Adam was created immortal. Immune even to accidents?

There is nothing redundant in the Torah. It doesn't mean you will surely die. It means that from that day on you will be subject to death, as Adam was at first created to me immortal.

And there is NO reference or hint or prediction of Jesus here.

4. On the textual side, all I said was that I am unhappy with the
translation of MOT TA-MUT as "you will surely die". The word 'surely'
is, in my humble opinion, surely
redundant.

Isaac,
I am too ignorant of Hebrew to even understand most of your
commentary, but I appreciate it. To my shame, the only part I
understood was the conclusion. And that still leaves me wondering,
was the process of death that you refer to, Tamut, already
happening, and would certainly come to fruition if they did not
take the action of eating of the tree of life?

As far as the rest of your comments, you'll need to dumb them down
for me.

Thanks,
Scott McAliley
