Hi Folks,

Nonsense. It is a common stance of the folks who write books seeking to
assert
various errors in the King James Bible to give lip-service to their high
regard for the
one Bible that they actively and consistently attack.

The insipidity of such a proclamation is transparent.

>He was no doubt chosen for his responsibility on the NKJV because of his
>long and proven career, from which he already had a good income.

Whatever spin you want to put on the situation, any reference to the Price
book
(that tries to paint those who truly consider the King James Bible the
inspired
and preserved word of God as 'cultists' - rather a vitriolic stance)
should -- for integrity sake -- properly state that he has an active
position in
a competing, alternative translation.

Why this is difficult to understand is the puzzle.
Simple ethics.

This does not mean that you do not read the book, or buy it, that will
be your decision. Simply it is proper disclosure.

A writer, or editor, or publisher, should not consciously and deliberately
leave out proper disclosure in distributing or marketing a book.

Incidentally, probably the last major "KJB as cultists" book that came out
was from a consultant for the Lockman Foundation (unlike James Price,
though, that James sports a strip mall doctorate). Also involved in
competing translations. Also this linkage was not properly disclosed.

So there is in fact a bit of a pattern involved.

However, none of this means the person has a direct or immediate financial
linkage.
Obviously.

The relationship between financial and social status and positions that one
takes is often quite complex.

Example:
Consider the scientists who churn out papers and studies for the drug
companies, individually
they may be extremely ethical, yet (as even the Wall Street Journal often
points out)
the system as a whole may itself be very dubious in its enticements and
inducements
to take a particular stance.

Could the Bible Version Industrial Complex have similar problems ?

Is their churning out the new copyrighted Version-of-the-Month-Club edition
solely an altruistic endeavor motivated by their love for God's word ?

Personally, I trow not.

YMMV.

Shalom,
Steven Avery

Sidenote:
Personally I like some of James Prices ' writings on some Bible topics
(if I recall he was one of the early writers to discuss Hebrew tense
aspects in Isaiah on a web article that was sensible).
However I have not found his Bible version writings to be on the same level.
