This is actually not so modern and dates back to 1897 when it was done so in Ginsburg's first edition and also in 1908-1926 when it was done in Ginsburg's second edition.

Which modern editions treat ketiv/keri in precisely this manner, btw?

I meant of course 1894, not 1897. typo.
