I see that you've picked up the correct verse. Yes, all of the English
translations that I've seen follow the Vulgate and avoid the issue.

Good point, Yigal -- and one which by Jerome's time had been overlooked,
since the Vulgate inserts "deinde" between God and king, perhaps sharing the
concern of the original poster?.
