I STRONGLY believe that the full cantilation is necessary if students will
use this as a primary text. It's important to see how the Massoretes
analyzed
the sentence structure beyond splitting it in half. The other disjunctive
accents can be critical to analysis.
2. When glossing the verbs, since the gloss will necessarily reflect the
verb’s binyan/stem, should the gloss include a notation indicating the
binyan/stem? and why?
Example:
Possible Gloss Entry 1: PLT to bring out, save VERSUS
Possible Gloss Entry 2: PLT Pi: to bring out, save.
The binyan should be included. Many English glosses do not differ between
one or more binyanim. The binyan is often relevant to understanding why
other
parts of the sentence (prepositions, etc.) are what they are.
3. If you are a Hebrew instructor, what concerns would you have about a
publication such as I am proposing?
