as pulp readers don't want true originality, so the distinction between
literature and pulp is not one of genre.
[SB:] Imitation flows both ways. Although much popular art is ersunkenes
Kulturgut, 'good' artists also draw on popular genres to reinvigorate a
stale or academic official style with 'original' content or form or
simply to have more fun or make more money. Some of these 'good'
artists have achieved conspicuously greater artistic success and
influence while slumming than in their more pretentious 'serious' work
