I am afraid that this is a theological problem and not a problem that is
simply one of Biblical Hebrew. People on this list represent different and
differing religious traditions and consequential theologies. Speaking for
what you have termed "many non-literalists" but as someone who has a high
regard for the text, regarding the Hebrew Bible, the Jewish sages have
stated that the Torah is written in the language of man, i.e., not the
language of God, and so its holiness need not be inerrant. As human
language, it is subject to all the "errancies" of mortals.
