The most immediately apparent attribute of this message snippet is
color.

Please note that using special display fonts, text sizes, color, bold
face, italics, and other display enhancements in e-mail *always*
introduces elements that will trouble some mail readers. Only plain
text without such enhancements should be used for messages to mail
lists such as this, where a large number of people with varying
terminal resources will need to read the same message.

Plain text means just that: the text, only the text, no enhancements or
color. Use no special formatting gimmicks except spaces and linefeeds.
That means no columns (unless you set them up manually with spaces and
linefeeds), no automatic centering, no special foreign language fonts,
no tags of any kind should be used. All of these have their places,
but that place is not on an e-mail list. All of these will cause some
mail reading software to become dispeptic; even tab characters will
bother some older readers.
