There are approved western style riding helmets out there (felt w/brim), but not very flattering. Troxel makes a schooling helmet geared for western riders. Life isn't always fair, but safety and protecting one's "personal computer" should always be priority #1.

Mississippi 4-H has now mandated riding helmets for its riders. This is wonderful but there are no western hats for our children to wear. this is not fair my daughter says. We would be interested in a riding western safty hat that meats ASTM and SEI standards. I'm not sure what size to buy for her. Planing on measuring her when she returns from camp.We need riding helments for timed events, poles, barrels, and western pleasure are the events we compet in.
