OK, so you guys have just served up a very nice encapsulation of the
overall "debate" on LJ or Xanga vs. say, Eschaton or Crooked Timber.

Tanner says blogging is different from journaling because of the focus
of the individual writer (extro vs. intro) - so why would that cause
people to treat LJ-based writers who write on serious issues with an
outward focus in the same way as their lovelorn high-schooler
counterparts, simply because they use the same blog host? What kind of
loopy (il)logic is that?

Plus, social networking is not just for high schoolers, folks - in fact,
I thought it was one of the main purposes of this group. And how many of
you are on Tribe? or Friendster? SN can have valuable real-world uses,
aside from the simple joy of finding other writers with whom you share
interests.

I find it interesting that so many people on a techo-geeky list would
spew opinions not based on techological fact, but rather hearsay,
innuendo, and bandwagoning.

The question remains: what host if not LJ? Blogspot? Somewhere else? And
no, I'm not buying alternate hosting space.
