I think a discussion of open access to data and research tools would be very
productive, and I want to add that open access to the research itself is a
key part of the equation. I expect people on this list to agree on the
importance of open research, but what that really means for research more
broadly, and how to engage the larger community, are questions that would
benefit for further discussion.

I might be attending the iSummit -- still not sure if I can do it. But if so, I'd love to discuss some of the open data issues I've been working on. This has been primarily through the Open Data Commons project, which has produced a public domain dedication and licence (the PDDL) for data in line with the Science Commons protocol they published in December. You may like to check out it out in the context of what you are considering Victoria.
